2013-2014 Global Heritage Prize Winner

Global Heritage courses are concerned with ideas, works, and practices of non-Western traditions. The Global Heritage Competition is held annually to honor exceptional work in projects with a focus on non-Western traditions and peoples. All projects are eligible to enter, including essays, poems, musical compositions, visual or dramatic compositions, reportage, documentaries, and other cutting-edge forms not anticipated by the Global Heritage Oversight Committee.

Northeast Ohio Medical University Awards Degrees in Medicine, Pharmacy and Public Health During Commencement

Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) honored 184 of Ohio's newest public health professionals, pharmacists and physicians during its commencement ceremony on May 18 at The University of Akron's E.J. Thomas Performing Arts Center. The College of Graduate Studies, founded in 2009, graduated its very first class of students. The College of Pharmacy graduated its third class of pharmacists and the College of Medicine graduated its thirty-third class of physicians. Sixty-three percent of students in the College of Pharmacy were offered and accepted positions in Northeast Ohio following graduation. Fifty-two percent are entering community practice, 28 percent are entering residencies while the balance are pursuing health-system pharmacy practices, continuing their education or finalizing their plans. Fifty-three percent of the College of Medicine's graduating class will remain in Ohio for their residencies, 29 percent of which will remain in NEOMED's hospital partners, and 44 percent of graduates will continue their training in a primary care field such as family practice, internal medicine, pediatrics or obstetrics/gynecology.
